AUDIO PRODUCER & EDITOR

I’m a freelance audio producer, story editor and storyteller at large.

Most recently I produced a weekly narrative history show called They Did That for Somethin' Else/Sony. Prior to that I was the story editor on season 2 of Tight Lipped. In the past, I’ve produced for StoryCorps, Lantigua Williams & Co, Stanford University and Columbia University. I’ve also done some fact checking for shows like Do The Work from Three Uncanny Four Productions. Click on the images in my portfolio to learn more!

I’m currently a resident at Union Docs’ Pod Pod lab. I’m also a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, where I produced a piece about Long Creek Youth Development Center—Maine’s last youth jail— and the ongoing discussion about whether or not it’s possible to keep kids out of jail. I hold a BA from New York University in Social and Cultural Analysis and have done research on memory, identity and cultures of storytelling in immigrant communities.

Before working full-time in audio production, I was the Site Manager for StoryCorps’ Mobile Tour, where I travelled around the US with an Airstream Trailer-made-recording studio and oversaw a team of facilitators collecting stories on the ground. Prior to that, I spent several years at a human rights nonprofit where I served as a program coordinator.

I’m currently open to contract or full time narrative projects. If you have a project in mind and want to chat, please email me at ava.ahmadbeigi@gmail.com
